Environmental Documents

Federal funding has been granted for the project and completing an Environmental Assessment (EA) is required by federal regulations. Since there has been a time gap between the completion of the original environmental document and construction of a new project, the county must revisit the needs for reconstructing this segment of road. Therefore, a new EA will be developed using public input and technical analyses to determine the needs, deficiencies, impacts, mitigation, and design of the proposed project.

Through the EA process, the county will have the opportunity to receive public input and coordinate with permitting agencies. The EA will be approved and signed by Anoka County, Mn/DOT, and the Federal Highway Administration. It is intended that the EA will also serve as the state environmental document, required by state rules, which will be processed through Minnesota’s Environmental Quality Board.
