Cities impacted : Various throughout Anoka County
Start Date: May 2011
End Date: COMPLETED
What we are doing: The overlay program is used to restore paved road surfaces to add structural capacity, riding comfort and skid resistance, all of which add to the roadway's safety. While newly overlaid roads are aesthetically pleasing, the primary goal for overlaying is to extend the life of the road and improve conditions for drivers. Factors including weather, traffic impacts, frequency of maintenance, etc., all contribute to a roadway's longevity. When a paved roadway reaches about 75% of its service life, deterioration accelerates. If routine maintenance is not performed restoration costs are four to five times greater.
How traffic is affected: Minor delays and possible lane shifts.
