Anoka County classifies and supervises adult offenders in one of two ways: Offenders assessed as less of a threat to public safety are supervised and monitored by the Probation Service Center (PSC). Adult offenders assessed as more likely to re-offend (high risk) are placed under intensive supervision and surveillance.
Immediately after the court adjudicates a youth as delinquent, a juvenile probation officer meets with them. The probation officer screens the juvenile for the level of supervision they may require. The youth may be assigned to intensive supervision as a high-risk youth, or, if the youth is at lower risk of re-offending, he or she is assigned to the Juvenile Probation Center.
Juvenile offenders on probation supervision may include: high risk youth under intensive supervision, extended juvenile jurisdiction (EJJ) offenders, sex offenders, and truants. The length of juvenile probation is typically six to 12 months long.
