Low-level felony offenders with little or no prior criminal record may be court-ordered into the diversion program. Diversion allows certain property and drug offenders to avoid a felony conviction if they successfully complete a probationary period with specific conditions. Offenders may be required to pay restitution to their victims, complete community work service, and chemical dependency treatment.
Low-level felony juvenile offenders with little or no prior criminal record may be offered Diversion as an alternative option to appearing in court. Youth in the Diversion Program will not have to appear in front of a judge, have a court record, or be placed on probation. Diversion consequences are typically less significant than those imposed by the court.
